Reporting to the Manager, Interprofessional Practice and Allied Health, the Spiritual Care Lead supports the development and implementation of a spiritual care model for service delivery.   This team lead position will be an active practitioner who supports the scheduling, workflow and evaluation of the program services and recommends initiatives and change for continuous improvement. The team lead participates in the design and delivery of spiritual care services to patients, families, volunteers, students and staff at Brightshores.   Key attributes include program evaluation and organizational skills to support an efficient program that meets spiritual care needs in a timely manner.  Key attributes also include teamwork and collaboration; and the ability to use skill, compassion and resilience to provide support and services to individuals on their unique health care journey.  The ability to travel to all Brightshores sites is required, and some flexible work hours to meet patient care requirements.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:


  • Certified Spiritual Care Practitioner with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS)
  • Masters of Divinity, or Master of Pastoral Studies, or Masters of Arts in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy, or Masters in Spiritual Care Counselling
  • Registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) or a willingness to become registered
  • Experience with staff schedules, workflow and assignments, budgeting and quality improvement initiatives
  • Experience with LEAN, Six Sigma or other quality improvement programs
  • Team lead experience in coaching and mentoring staff
  • Knowledge of various models of spiritual care and their appropriate use in a variety of practice contexts
  • Demonstrate business acumen and ability to support the strategic direction of Brightshores
  • Knowledge of multi-faith, Indigenous cultural awareness and multigenerational trauma informed care
  • Experience in an acute care setting and/or hospice; experience in crisis care, mental health, end-of-life care, ethics, MAID, and organ and tissue donation
  • Experience with electronic patient documentation and Microsoft office applications
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written English), interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Possession of a valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and personal vehicle; ability to travel to all sites as required
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
