DEPARTMENT: OUTPATIENT MENTAL HEALTH (NORTH BRUCE TEAM)

WAGE RATE: $39.16 – $50.77
Reporting to the manager of Outpatient Mental Health Services, the applicant will be part of Outpatient Mental Health Services, which provides a range of mental health services (Intake assessments, short term counseling, group therapy) to individuals and their families suffering from mental illness and/or acute psychiatric mental health issues. The successful candidate, following the principles of the recovery model, will provide high quality assessments and brief counselling using short-term solution-focused, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy therapeutic models. They will also participate in the education of staff, students and the larger community. This position is initially targeted to work in our North Bruce – Brief Counselling Service with the understanding that the BSW/MHC-B is a member of Outpatient Mental Health Services and as such may be assigned to another program as needed.
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:
Required
BSW:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
MHC-B:
- Bachelor’s degree Social Work, Psychology or a related health or Social Services field
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO)
Both:
- Minimum 5 years recent experience working in the community with individuals with significant mental health needs and substance use disorders
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and familiarity with DSM-V
- P.I. training up to date
- P.R. – basic certification
- Training and experience in Brief Solution-Focused Therapy
- Training and experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Training and experience in Single Session Therapy
- Training and experience in Group therapy
- Training and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy
- Access to reliable transportation – some traveling may be required
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting
- Ability to provide practicum supervision for students in the field
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
