POSITION TITLE: CLINICAL SECRETARY

WAGE RATE: $24.526 – $26.436
Reporting to the Managers, Medical Imaging/Cardiology, this position supports the work of the Medical Imaging and Cardiology Departments. In addition to performing regular duties of their classification, the clinical secretary requires excellent communication skills, knowledge of medical radiation terminology and accuracy in data collection and entry. They will ensure that work output meets accepted standards, provide clerical guidance to staff; assist and co-ordinate the ordering of materials and supplies; and routinely follow up on customer complaints. This position is also required to be available for all shifts within the Medical Imaging and Cardiology departments. Communications will be required with physicians, patients, hospital staff and external agencies.
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:
Required
- Secondary School Diploma with relevant administrative/secretarial experience, or post-secondary business/office administration education diploma
- Demonstrated proficiency in Medical Terminology – to be tested
- Typing 45 wpm ~ to be tested
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word & Excel) ~ to be tested
- Ability to understand written and verbal instruction; to multi-task effectively with a patient-service focus
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to organize, monitor, and adjust the daily workload of busy Medical Imaging and Cardiology Departments
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent problem solving and decision-making skills
- Ability and willingness to ensure patient safety (Ex. following routine practices and practicing diligent hand washing, reporting adverse events, etc.)
- Ability to liaise with the Manager, Charge Technologists, Radiologists and IT
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record
