Reporting to the Director, Quality, Safety and Risk, the Manager, Nursing Practice and Education is a corporate leadership role at Brightshores Health System. They will lead and manage the Nurse Educator team and support nursing practice excellence and are responsible for overseeing and enhancing interprofessional professional development, clinical practice, and educational initiatives of our healthcare staff. The manager collaborates with clinical leaders, interdisciplinary teams, and external partners to foster a culture of quality and patient safety; champion evidence-informed practice and strengthen structures or processes to promote excellence in interprofessional practice throughout the organization.
This position is integral in leading a culture of practice excellence and accountability, practice guidelines, evidence-informed practices, implementing and evaluating complex change processes, patient safety and quality initiatives. The Manager, Nursing Practice and Education provides leadership within the Quality, Safety and Risk portfolio with direct reports, while acting as a resource and advisor to the organization on professional practice matters.
Qualifications
Required
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Master’s Degree in Nursing or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with equivalent experience
- Minimum of 5 years progressive clinical and leadership experience in an acute hospital setting (full time equivalent)
- Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, drive change, mentor, and facilitate collaboration
- Expertise in professional practice standards, related legislation, regulatory, and healthcare accreditation requirements
- Experience in teaching, professional development, e-learning and principles of adult education
- Familiarity with concepts of evaluation, evidence-informed practice and research required
- Highly motivated, self-directed with demonstrated ability to provide leadership within and across an interprofessional team in complex adaptive systems
- Demonstrated excellent presentation, project management and organizational skills required.
- Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving, and interpersonal skills that will cultivate relationships amongst the multidisciplinary team
- Project management knowledge and experience
- Working knowledge of healthcare legislation required
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, planning and evaluation skills.
- Proficient in using technology for educational purposes and data analysis
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
