WAGE RATE: $39.07 – $56.00
The Registered Nurse (composite) is responsible for the promotion of health and assessment, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative and therapeutic means to critically ill adults, children and infants in order that the client may return to, attain or maintain optimal function. The RN provides a range of outpatient mental health services to clients who have experienced sexual assault and domestic violence (intimate partner abuse). The RN provides specialized treatment, psychosocial care, legal information, and related crisis counseling and counselling services using evidenced-based therapeutic modalities.
*This position has a dual reporting structure to both the Manager of Emergency & Ambulatory Care, and Manager of Outpatient Mental Health Services.
Skills/Abilities/Qualifications
Required
- Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Experience in forensic gynecology and forensic nursing
- Knowledge of paediatric forensic sexual assault exams
- Knowledge of sexual assault law, evidence collection and legal proceedings
- Experience in Crisis Intervention in relation to sexual assault and domestic partner violence
- Understanding of the current issues and challenges in providing care to sexual and domestic violence victims
- Excellent problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills; Advanced Leadership skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
- Established skills in self-care
- Ability and willingness to work Monday to Friday evening and day shifts both 7.5 and 11.25 hrs
- Knowledgeable and proficient with the skills required to educate adults
- Current BCLS, ACLS
- Current PALS or willingness to obtain
- Physical Assessment course or equivalent
- Recent Emergency Nursing experience
- Arrhythmia interpretation
- Demonstrate the Emergency Nursing Process to assess, plan, implement and evaluated emergency patients
- Excellent assessment and interviewing skills
- Ability to prioritize and remain calm during stressful, violent and crisis situations
- Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
- Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records

Preferred
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing
- Coronary Care Certificate
- Critical Care Certificate (CNA or College approved)
- Community College Diploma in Emergency Nursing or ENC Certification
