DEPARTMENT: MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES – Brief Counselling (North Bruce Team)

WAGE RATE: $39.07 – $56.00
Reporting to the manager of Outpatient Mental Health Services, the applicant will be part of Outpatient Mental Health Services, which provides a range of mental health services (Counseling, Case Management, Group Therapy) to individuals and their families suffering from severe mental illness and/or acute psychiatric mental health issues. The successful candidate, following the principles of the recovery model, will provide high quality assessments and brief counselling with the primary focus being group based counselling using short-term solution-focused and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy therapeutic models. They will also participate in the education of staff, students and the larger community. This position is initially targeted to work in our Brief Counselling Service with the understanding that the RN is a member of Outpatient Mental Health Services and as such may be assigned to another program as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and familiarity with DSM-V
- C.P.I. training up to date
- C.P.R. – basic certification
- Minimum 5 years recent counselling experience working in the community with clients experiencing acute psychiatric/mental health problems
- Training and experience in Brief Solution-Focused Therapy
- Training and experience in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Training and experience in Single SessionTherapy
- Training and experience in Group therapy
- Training and experience in Dialectical Behavior Therapy
- Access to reliable transportation – some traveling may be required
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting
- Ability to provide practicum supervision for students in the field
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
