WAGE RATE: $39.07 – $56.00

Reporting to the Manager, Occupational Health and Safety, the Occupational Health Nurse delivers occupational health services to promote the health, safety and wellness of individual employees, and the workplace organization. The Nurse recommends and facilitates implementation of workplace surveillance and control measures, and monitors statistics and effectiveness of the workplace health and safety programs, such as Violence Prevention, Wellness Promotion, Return to Work and Attendance Management. This position will work collaboratively with Infection Prevention & Control on the management of outbreaks and exposures.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility
  • Certified Occupational Health Nurse COHN(c)
  • Occupational Health Certificate from an accredited college or university, or in progress
  • Recent experience with COVID-19 response including outbreak management, surveillance, contact tracing and work eligibility
  • Working knowledge of OMA/OHA surveillance and exposure management systems
  • Experience managing WSIB and non-occupational claims
  • Experience developing and maintaining medical directives, nursing procedures and occupational health and safety policies
  • Comprehensive knowledge of applicable occupational health and safety legislation
  • Recent experience as an Occupational Health Nurse, Joint Health and Safety Certified Member and certification in respirator fit testing
  • Ability to work empathically and professionally with employees to develop personal goals for improved health
  • Ability to maintain confidentially, discretion and work effectively in high stress and conflict-oriented situations
  • Must communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to effectively participate in difficult conversations and to handle difficult  and stressful situations that produce proactive and positive outcomes
  • Must be able to work with Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel and Outlook) to be tested
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, sound judgments, analytical thinking and initiative
  • Willing and able to work flexible hours
  • Commitment to continuous learning and the development of an annual learning plan
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Satisfactory attendance and performance
