The Registered Practical Nurse-Admissions will work collaboratively as a member of the Owen Sound Emergency Department inter-disciplinary team. The admissions nurse will augment the daily workflow within the emergency department setting enabling emergency room nurses to safely manage the care of other acute patients. The admissions nurse will work in a clinical and administrative role and be the first point of contact for patients and their families after admission is awarded. While the primary focus of this role is admission intake and coordination the admissions nurse will also provide clinical support to the emergency department.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- RPN Certificate of Competence with the Ontario College of Nurses
- Ability to work at full scope of practice as defined by the Medical-Surgical Program
- Certification in medication administration
- Physical Assessment Course or equivalent
- Competency in aseptic technique, urinary catheterization, administration of medications, IV therapy, POCT
- 2 years recent acute care nursing experience
- Excellent organizational and patient assessment skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development
- Participation in staff meetings and unit specific projects
- Knowledge of and adherence to Brightshores Core Values
