Owen Sound, March 27, 2025 — Brightshores Health System is at the heart of our communities, providing essential healthcare that impact lives across Grey and Bruce counties. We are seeking engaged and strategic individuals with governance experience to join the skills-based Board of Directors.
Our dedicated team of more than 3,300 staff, physicians and volunteers deliver a comprehensive range of acute healthcare services. The care provided across our six hospitals is strengthening healthcare for everyone in Grey and Bruce Counties. Board membership offers an outstanding opportunity for dedicated individuals to volunteer their expertise and time in the mutual commitment to better serve patients.
“The best word I can think of that connects my passion for this opportunity is ‘people’. It answers the why and how of my volunteer work with Brightshores.” said Deborah Pope, Brightshores’ Board Chair. “We are seeking candidates who are invested in making a positive impact to support high-quality, accessible patient care.”
Brightshores operates across one of the largest geographic regions in Ontario. Our skills-based board guides the organization and supports the work to strengthen our ability to meet local healthcare needs across Grey-Bruce.
Through a unique partnership with the Brightshores Research Institute, our experts are advancing research that addresses the distinct needs of rural healthcare. Our first-of-its-kind Wellness & Recovery Centre, which provides treatment and recovery under one roof, is recognized as a provincial model to respond to the mental health and addictions crisis.
Brightshores is working on exciting ways to deliver care and being recognized provincially for the dedicated care our teams provide. Passionate individuals are encouraged to apply to join our Board and positively contribute to our continued growth.
Brightshores is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, which is a mix of elected and ex-officio members. We are seeking applicants who have governance experience and have a residence within the catchment area, which includes the communities surrounding our hospitals in Lion’s Head, Markdale, Meaford, Owen Sound, Southampton and Wiarton.
