Position & Service Delivery

We have an immediate opening for a full-time general Ophthalmologist to join our team – includes access to operating time. Specialists provide on-call support, in-patient surgical services and outpatient consultations and follow-up to a wide catchment area of over 170,000 residents and more than 2 million short-stay visitors each year.

Operating Room time is based at the Owen Sound and Meaford hospitals as part of the Division of Ophthalmology. The equivalent of one day per week of OR is being offered for this position. Both of our sites are equipped with Zeiss microscopes that incorporate the Callisto eye Toric alignment system for more accurate positioning of toric IOLs. In addition, both sites are equipped with a full complement of MST instruments for anterior segment surgery and sutured IOL work. Our Meaford site boasts brand new instrumentation allowing up to 18 cataract cases to be performed daily using the WhiteStar Signature Pro J&J/AMO cataract surgery platform. Instrumentation is also available for minor oculoplastic procedures at both sites.

The On-Call distribution will be 1 in 5.

The option for joining an existing out-of-hospital clinical practice exists in the community – This would allow someone wanting to join our team to be able to rapidly relocate and start seeing patients and performing surgery with minimal delay.
