Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy helps people of all ages lead a more productive, satisfying and independent life. Occupational Therapists assess the tasks and activities that occupy a person’s time and energy throughout the day. This can include things like getting dressed, preparing a meal, working at a job, playing, attending school, and enjoying time with family or friends.

Working as part of the health care team, the Occupational Therapist considers the client’s occupations, abilities (physical, affective, and cognitive), their environment and their specific needs and goals. An Occupational Therapist is an expert at analyzing the effects of the patient’s environment and functional limitations on their ability to perform their day-to-day tasks and activities. They work with patients to assist them to return to the highest level of function possible using adaptive devices and aides if required.
