Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager Security Infrastructure and Solution Integration, the Network Systems Specialist ensures optimum performance and high availability of the Hospital network and server infrastructure to support Patient Care and Hospital operations.  The Network Systems Specialist maintains and troubleshoots infrastructure, hardware and operating systems.  The Network Systems Specialist works in close collaboration with fellow Hospital Information Services staff members and users in addition to associated Health Centre clinical staff in order to ensure that Hospital infrastructure supports the electronic system(s) and meets user needs.  All roles are essential in providing a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and others by ensuring that health and safety policies are followed.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required

  • Minimum five years’ experience in IT systems administration in a large, client-server environment
  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related Information Technology Discipline or equivalent work experience
  • Current certification in at least two of the following: CCAA, CCEA, CCEE, CCIA, MSCE and/or VCP a definite asset
  • Minimum five years’ experience with Citrix Xenapp and XenDesktop
  • Expert knowledge of Citrix configurations and ICA Client management, experience in implementing Citrix performance optimization, scalability, security, high-availability, monitoring, printing, connectivity, group policy
  • Expert knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, VSphere ESX & VDI
  • Expert knowledge of TCP/IP switching and routing
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Windows 10, Windows 11, Sql Server, Server 2016/2019, AD and Exchange
  • Familiarity with PowerShell, or any other form or scripting and automation
  • Proven organization and time management skills
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong skills in storage technology (NAS,SAN)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and vehicle; Able to travel off-site and internationally
  • PIPEDA/PHIPA compliance experience as it relates to network best practices and security as well as managing and complying to PIPEDA/PHIPA network controls
  • Knowledge of Data Center Operations
  • Diplomacy, tact and ability to negotiate deliverables with user community and colleagues
  • Advocate for change to an electronic environment
  • Demonstrated customer service and responsiveness required
  • Works to accomplish goals and objectives for the department
  • Availability for overtime and flexibility in hours of work – some weekend work required
  • On-Call rotation may be required
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis
  • Ability and willingness to continually upgrade skills
