Reporting to the Manager of Finance & Reporting, the Financial Analyst (FA) is an adaptable, proactive individual with a strong willingness to learn and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment. The responsibilities include regular monitoring and reporting on financial and statistical data from Hospital operations, budget and the analysis of the variance to support informed financial decision-making of the Hospital, as well as being a team lead on departmental initiatives. They participate as a team member in the preparation, development and maintenance of the Hospital’s financial and statistical reporting requirements to internal and external users (Managers, MOHLTC, etc.)
Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:
Required:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with related experience in hospital financial and utilization data is an asset
- Hold a recognized professional designation (CPA), or currently pursing/have an interest in pursuing is an asset
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Knowledge of the Canadian Institute Health Information MIS Guidelines and the Ministry of Heath OHRS guidelines
- Possess advanced technical skills in MS Office, particularly Excel skills with the ability to create advanced logical, look up and reference formulas, tables, pivot tables, charts and graphs
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task and work in a challenging fast paced environment
- Ability to manage workload to meet tight deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong ability to formulate, gather, analyze and present financial and statistical information from a variety of data set to reach a valid conclusion in a clear and concise report
- Maturity, professionalism, and high level of discretion are required
- Knowledge of procedural controls and data validation techniques required
- Independent worker and analytical thinker with ability to conduct research, data analysis and resolve complex problems
- Strong presence with the ability to interact with senior leadership
- Financial modeling expertise a plus
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
