Reporting to the Manager, Interprofessional Practice and Allied Health, the Spiritual Care Practitioner participates in the delivery of spiritual care services to patients, families, volunteers, students and staff at Brightshores. This position works collaboratively with the Spiritual Care Lead as part of the Allied Health Interprofessional Team. Key responsibilities include participation in the development of a framework for the delivery of service through teamwork and collaboration; and the ability to use skill, compassion and resilience to provide support and services to individuals on their unique health care journey. The ability to travel to all Brightshores sites and to work a flexible schedule is required to meet patient care requirements.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required:

  • Certified Spiritual Care Practitioner membership with the Canadian Association for Spiritual Care (CASC/ACSS), education at Advanced level with a readiness to continue to certification is preferred.
  • Masters of Divinity, or Master of Pastoral Studies, or Masters of Arts in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy, or Masters in Spiritual Care Counselling.
  • Knowledge of various models of spiritual care and their appropriate use in a variety of practice contexts
  • Knowledge of multi-faith, indigenous cultural awareness and multigenerational trauma informed care
  • Experience in an acute care setting and/or hospice; experience in crisis care, mental health, end-of-life care, ethics, MAiD and organ and tissue donation
  • Experience with electronic patient documentation and Microsoft office applications are an asset
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written English), interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Possession of a valid Ontario Class G Driver’s License and personal vehicle; ability to travel to all sites as required
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
