Reporting to the Manager of the care area, the Patient Care Assistant (PCA) will assist with routine activities of patient care, within the agreed upon plan of care. The PCA will work in partnership with a Registered Nurse/ Registered Practical Nurse, to provide patient care and will become an integral member of the multidisciplinary team. The focus is on Quality and patient/family centered care with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction. The PCA promotes an environment that is optimal for the physical, social and emotional well-being of our patients.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Certificate of Completion of the Personal Support Worker Program from a recognized Community College or a combination of relevant experience and education preferably from an acute care facility.
  • Current CPR
  • Recent experience as a in a healthcare facility
  • Successful completion of corporate Code White training (to be provided)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Infection Control Practices
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent organizational and patient assessment skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development
  • Ability to work all shifts
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
