Reporting to the Manager of Critical Care, Respiratory & Infection Prevention & Control, the Registered Nurse focuses on the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic means to critically ill adults and occasionally children, during the critical phase of their illness in order that the client may to return to, attain or maintain optimal function.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

• Ontario College of Nurses registration
• Current BCLS
• ACLS
• Current PALS, or willingness to obtain within one year of hire
• Coronary Care Course Level I and II, or willingness to obtain within one year of hire
• Post Anaesthesia Course, or willingness to obtain within one year of hire
• Demonstrates an ability to think critically and respond effectively in emergency situations
• Excellent communication, customer service and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
• Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision making and interpersonal skills
• Ongoing participation with College of Nurses Reflective Practice
• Willingness to routinely participate in staff meetings and unit specific projects
• Completion of all unit specific certifications and Delegated Medical Acts or willingness to do so within allotted time frame
• Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
• Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
