DEPARTMENT: AMBULATORY CARE

WAGE RATE: $34.943 – $35.967

Reporting to the Manager, the Registered Practical Nurse works to provide support to patients requiring hospital resources, technical support and/or skilled personnel in an outpatient clinic setting. Ambulatory Care serves a diverse patient population in all medical – surgical sub- specialities. Ambulatory Care is a challenging dynamic environment with a rapid pace and high turnover of patients on a daily basis.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario registration or eligibility
  • Physical Assessment course
  • BCLS certification
  • Three years’ broad Medical/Surgical experience
  • PowerChart Documentation and Order Entry
  • Wound Care
  • Certified to start IV’s and IV therapy
  • Ability to adapt to a rapidly changing population and patient needs required
  • Ability to work collaboratively with all team members
  • Excellent interviewing and patient assessment skills
  • Experience with Health Teaching and Teach back
  • Excellent leadership, problem solving, decision making and organizational skills
  • Self-directed ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing clinical environment with minimal supervision
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in patient education and health promotion
  • Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
  • Recent satisfactory performance and attendance record

Preferred

  • Additional Education pertaining to surgery/medicine
  • Experience with the following skills:
    o Cast Removal and Application
