Staff from MDRD at Ribbon-Cutting Event

Brightshores Health System officially opened the renovated Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD) with a ribbon-cutting celebration today.

The updated space includes an expansion of the existing footprint and critical components that will improve the quality and safety of medical device reprocessing, a new surgical waiting area, and a new scope reprocessing area. These renovations will complement the state-of-the-art technology, implemented in 2022.

“The updates we have made to this department ensure that we can continue to provide safe and quality care to our patients into the future. Our team has been working diligently to make these improvements. This is a true example of our commitment to safety.” said Brightshores’ President and CEO, Ann Ford.

“Brightshores MDRD processes thousands of instruments every week. Having updated technology such as our instrument tracking system, along with our new satellite reprocessing area in the operating room, ensures our team can continue providing exemplary reprocessing services. This was a team effort to make this happen and we are thrilled to continue the good work our patients are accustomed to.” said Cara Singh, Director of Surgery, Women and Child Program.

Our Medical Device Reprocessing team works around the clock at Brightshores. They disinfect, re-assemble, and sterilize reusable medical devices in the hospital. This department is a crucial component of any hospital.

Our Medical Device Reprocessing team is keeping patients safe every day.
